Tuxedo FAQs and Tips
FAQ - Frequently asked questions for tuxedos
BRIDE and GROOM
When should my process for tuxedos begin?
The process for tuxedos can begin as early as you are ready. With the excitement of
wedding planning, it is very common for brides/grooms to start their order 6 to 8 months in
advance. If your wedding is being planned very quickly, we can definitely accommodate
you, even if your wedding is next week!
I have a lot of guys out of town; can I still get their tuxedos from Mia's Bridal?
Of course! We can take care of guys from ALL over! Your guys that are not local can get
measured at any formal wear provider in their area. They can submit their measurements to
us either via our website, fax, mail or a phone call is always welcome.

When should I have my groomsmen fitted?
Your men can get measured as early as they desire, however we suggest about 2 months in
advance so that the order can be placed. This way the guys do not gain/lose too much
weight before the actual fitting the week of the wedding.
My ring bearers are still growing…when should they be measured?
We want them measured as close to the wedding as possible. Usually 2-3 weeks before the
wedding is ideal so that the least amount of growth remains.
Is there a second fitting involved?
You bet! The tuxedos are typically in store 2 days before the wedding (during peak season it
could be 1 day before). All the guys will need to be available at that time to try on their tuxes
to ensure a proper fit. Last minute adjustments can be done in store while the guy waits.
Do all my men have to pick up the tuxes at Mia's Bridal?
Yes. We offer personal attention to ensure a proper fit for the wedding day. If someone is
unable to pick up their own tuxedo, it can be picked up by a member of the party once it is
paid in full. We then ask that it be tried on as soon as possible so that we can do any last
minute adjustments if needed.
Do I have to make an appointment for fittings?
Not necessarily, if it is a small group that needs fitted, walking in is fully acceptable. If we
need to measure a whole party or a large group plans on coming in to try on, a call ahead
would be appreciated.
When should the tuxedos be returned?
The tuxedos will be due back the Tuesday immediately following the event*. There is the
occasion when they will be due back the following Sunday between 2pm and 4pm (You will
be notified in advance if you must return on Sunday)
* Return dates will vary for events not on Friday or Saturday
How is the tuxedo shirt color determined?
We offer white, black and ivory shirts. The color of the shirt is generally determined based on
the wedding dress color. If the bride is in a white dress, then a white shirt should be chosen.
The same idea applies if the wedding gown is an ivory/natural tone, or even diamond white
or gold or champagne (an ivory shirt should be used). If you mix white and ivory through your
party, then whoever is in the ivory will look dirty or dingy next to those in the bright white.
I want the groom to be set apart from the rest of the party...what is the best way
to do this?
This is just as much the groom's day as it is the bride's day. He needs to be special also!
Usually the groom will wear a white or ivory vest/tie (depending on the wedding dress color),
or a silver or platinum based on preference. Often the groom will wear a completely
different tuxedo style that coordinates, but is not the exact same style as the others are
wearing.
What is included with the tuxedo rental?
The tuxedos will come with the coat, pant, shirt, vest and tie. Cufflinks and studs will also be
included. Shoes are an additional charge and so are socks.

I don't live in Kansas City...can I get measured in my hometown?
Of course! We can take care of guys from ALL over! You can get measured at any formal
wear provider. Then you can submit your measurements to us either via the link below, fax,
mail or a phone call is always welcome.

What is the fitting process?
Your initial fitting (measurements) will take place 2-3 months before the wedding (If it is a
child under the age of 12, 2-3 weeks before the event is best). The tuxedo will come in based
on the measurements that are provided. The tuxedo will be available for try on a day or two
before the wedding. At that time, we will do any adjustments or alterations as needed, and
then you will be set to take your tuxedo with you (once payment has been made)!
When can I pick up my tuxedo?
Depending on the day of the event, the tuxedos will be available to pick up 1 or 2 days prior
to the event.
What is best to wear to my initial fitting (measurements)?
Your everyday street clothes are fine to wear to your fitting. You want to be sure that if you
wear a sweater, that you have a t-shirt on underneath. You do not want to risk sizing over
large clothing, and we want to ensure we have the most accurate measurements possible.
